Dionna Carlson

Running for First Selectman

Dionna Carlson is running for the position of First Selectman in New Canaan, Connecticut. She is running for this role because she is passionate about her community and wants to serve as its leader to ensure its continued growth and prosperity while preserving its unique character. She believes in the power of collaboration, transparency, and community engagement to address the challenges facing the town and is committed to working tirelessly on behalf of the residents to make New Canaan a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place to live, work, and raise a family.

Matt Campbell

Matthew Campbell is running for the Board of Education in New Canaan. He is running for this position because he wants to help preserve the excellent schools in New Canaan. He and his family moved to the town ten years ago largely because of the quality of the schools, and he feels a responsibility to ensure that this high standard of education is maintained for his younger children and all future students in the community. Matthew believes that New Canaan's schools should focus on core subjects and not be distracted by political agendas. Additionally, he is an advocate for increasing school safety by having a school resource officer in every school. Overall, his goal in running for the Board of Education is to contribute to the continued success and improvement of the New Canaan school district.

Matt Wexler

Matt Wexler is running for a seat on the Board of Education in New Canaan, Connecticut, with a clear vision for the educational system in the community. Having lived in New Canaan since 2011 and being a graduate of New Canaan High School, he is deeply committed to maintaining a traditional educational experience for all students. Wexler believes in the importance of academics, athletics, and the arts and is dedicated to fostering a secure and supportive environment within the district.

Transparency and community involvement are also key priorities for Wexler. He aims to ensure that parents and the community have access to information about the curriculum and educational processes, allowing them to be actively engaged in the school system. Additionally, he is focused on protecting New Canaan from potential external interference, such as government-level involvement, to maintain local control over educational policies. In the wake of COVID-19, Wexler is determined to address the educational gaps created by the pandemic and work towards the success of all students in the district, keeping New Canaan's educational standards at the forefront of his campaign.

Lara Kelly

Lara Kelly is running for the Board of Education in New Canaan. She is running for this position because she is passionate about education and believes in the importance of providing high-quality public schools for the children of New Canaan. Lara moved to New Canaan with her family specifically for the excellent public schools in the town and wants to contribute to ensuring that they continue to excel.

Her platform includes a focus on academics, addressing Covid-related learning loss, empowering teachers with the best curriculum, engaging all families, and investing in support services. Lara is committed to maintaining and enhancing the quality of education in New Canaan and believes that her background as a mother of four children who will attend elementary, middle, and high schools in the district during her service gives her a unique perspective to contribute to the Board of Education.
